Rejoicing in the Breakthrough!

by: Brittany Deegan

When we experience a major breakthrough in life, it can be tempting to postpone joy and allow fears of "what if’s" to sneak in and steal our testimony. There are moments in life worth celebrating and when we embrace the richness of God’s goodness towards us we reflect a testimony of his extravagant grace and love to the world.

All you who fear God, how blessed you are! How happily you walk on his smooth straight road! You worked hard and deserve all you’ve got coming. Enjoy the blessing! Revel in the goodness! Psalm 128: 1-2

I’m enamored with how Psalm 128 extends to us the lavish freedom to, “Enjoy the blessing! Revel in the goodness!” Often times, when we experience a major breakthrough or blessing we can be be quick to sweep it under the rug as if “it’s no big deal” or even postpone our joy out of fear that “it’s just too good to be true.” I like the reality check Pastor Greg preaches, “If it’s too good to be true, then it must be the gospel!”

Webster’s definition of the word “revel” is, “To feast with loose and clamorous merriment.” There are seasons where we are contending in prayer, standing in faith, and battling through a long trial of waiting for a specific breakthrough. But there are also seasons dedicated to rejoicing and celebrating (Ecc 3:4). If you are currently experiencing a season of breakthrough and victory in your life, be bold in shouting his goodness for the world to see and revel in the blessing! Be a walking testimony of what he has done for you. Your story will be a light and encouragement for others who are still waiting and trusting in God for their breakthrough. Don’t allow Satan to steal your blessing out of fear. Remember, that every Promise Land has it giants, but no giant is too big for our King. These moments of rejoicing in breakthrough become solid anchors, pillars, and stones of remembrance that build our faith and help us persevere through the next test life throws your way. They give energy, flight, and momentum to that next obstacle in life, that next mountain, that next need for breakthrough.

Your celebration can be a living breathing invitation for God’s goodness to multiply. If you are still waiting on your breakthrough, have it settled in your heart that God is for you and ask those who have experienced a similar breakthrough to stand with you in faith and prayer during this season of trusting. If you are rejoicing in a breakthrough, ask that God would do it again for those still trusting (Psalm 126:5-6).

Enjoy the breakthrough beloved, revel in the goodness! God’s kindness to you is worth celebrating and joy is the reverberating sound of heaven!

Prayer

Thank you Lord that you are joy in and of itself and you call us to celebrate with you in life! I am thankful for the breakthroughs you have already given me and I will stand on the testimonies of your faithful love for me as I go forward each day. I praise you for the victory because in you I can never be defeated. I pray that as fear creeps in to steal my joy, I will remember that you have assigned my fear a grave. I am called to live a free life, an abundant life, a life filled with breakthrough victory!  Amen.
