God Awesome, God Majestic
God can change your circumstances in a moment. He turns deserts into springs.
Wilderness and desert will sing joyously, the badlands will celebrate and flower—Like the crocus in spring, bursting into blossom, a symphony of song and color....God’s resplendent glory, fully on display. God awesome, God majestic. Isaiah 35:1-2 MSG
Good gardeners know that healthy blooms take time and intention. A beautiful flower or a blossoming tree have been months or even years in the making, faithfully tended by a watchful overseer. In nature, there’s a process.
It can be easy to look at our circumstances, those wilderness places of unanswered prayers, and wonder how God could ever resurrect them in our lifetime. Some deserts seem too dry, and some growth takes too long.
But our God is the God of creation. He sustains it all. He is outside of time, and at his word, all things must come alive.
“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.” Hebrews 1:3
In an instant, he can turn a dry desert into flourishing ground. In a moment, he can make rivers flow on the barren places of your life.
Yes, God uses process. Yes, he faithfully tends the seeds he’s planted within us, but when it comes to those wilderness places, the ones dead and beyond hope, he wants to show himself mighty to you.
Are you facing a hopeless circumstance today? Lift it up to your Father. He is eager to demonstrate his power. He longs to show you his love. Time is no obstacle for him. He holds all the resources of heaven and earth. He can provide and heal and reconcile like no human effort could.
It’s a constant promise throughout the scriptures: ”God is able.” And not only is he able, but he is also willing. He desires to make all things work together for your good (Romans 8:28), and he wants you to see your circumstance as an opportunity for his miraculous power.
“I will make rivers flow on barren heights, and springs within the valleys. I will turn the desert into pools of water, and the parched ground into springs.” Isaiah 41:18
Because it’s in those miracle moments, when wilderness and desert burst into blossom, that God gets all the glory. When it’s only by his hand that it could have happened, there is no boasting but in his goodness.
As the Scripture says, “God’s glory fully on display.” And all we can say, watching flowers bloom that we did not plant, is “God awesome, God majestic.”
