Statement of Beliefs
At Northlands Church we believe deeply held truths shape the way we do things. They stand on top of the fundamental truths of our common salvation in Jesus to form the theological basis for our practices.
GOD – THREE IN ONE
We believe in one God, existing eternally in three Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
THE FATHER
There is only one living and true God; He is perfect and the creator of everything.
THE SON
Jesus Christ is both fully God and fully man. He came to earth, living a sinless life, died for our sins upon a cross, rose again, and ascended into Heaven to take his present place as our High Priest and Advocate.
THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe the Holy Spirit is the comforter, guide, and the One who leads us into all truth. He is our step into authentic relationship with the Lord. He comforts us, convicts us, and leads us to be more like Jesus.
MAN
God created man in His own image. Man sinned and incurred the penalty of sin and separation from God. Every man is worthy of dignity and respect.
A LIFE OF SALVATION & GRACE
We believe no man is free from sin and no man can become right with God through their own works and acts of self-discipline. Salvation is available through the grace and the unchanging love of God that comes with putting one’s faith in Jesus Christ. We see the Cross as the great exchange between God and man where grace stepped in through Jesus to save us from our sins.
All who repent of their sins and receive the Lord Jesus Christ by faith are born again as children of God.
A PATH TRANSFORMED
We believe devotion to Christ will compel us to live in a manner that is worthy of our calling as His followers. We are fueled by our love and devotion to Jesus. We are continually seeking to be formed into the image of Christ.
BAPTISM + THE LORD’S SUPPER
We believe the Lord Jesus Christ appointed two sacred acts for the church to demonstrate the faith: baptism in water and the Lord’s Supper. Baptism is the immersion of the believer in water as a confession of identification with Christ’s burial and resurrection. The Lord’s Supper is the partaking in communion—an active remembrance of what Christ did for us and a celebration of what we receive as a result of His sacrifice.
HEALING
We believe in divine healing—present in the Old and New Testaments—as an integral part of the Gospel.
THE CHURCH
Church is God’s plan to reach the world—to create local communities who love one another deeply and reach out to the world with the love of Jesus and His good news. The local and global church should work together to serve God, people, and one another through unity, dignity, and respect.
