The Old You Is Dead
The old you died with Christ on the cross, and He gave you a new nature - His nature.
We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know Him. Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy. Romans 6:6 NLT; 2 Peter 1:3 NLT; Eph. 4:24 NLT
It’s a constant battle with ourselves we just can’t seem to win – trying to quit doing what we don’t want to do, and trying to start doing what we want to do. We try. We try hard. But sin eventually wins. Jesus knew we would never overcome sin ourselves. It was a battle He had to win for us.
How did He do it? He defeated the power of sin over us by putting to death our sinful nature at the cross and giving us a new nature – His nature. The Scriptures tell us we have been created to be like God, and He has given us everything we need to live godly lives. We have a nature free from the power of sin, a nature longing to do the will of the Father, a nature reflecting all of Christ’s goodness.
Are you struggling to live a godly life? Think differently about yourself. The old you died with Christ on the cross, and God created the new you to be like Him. As you begin to see yourself created in the image of God, you will begin to live the way God designed you to live – dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Dear Jesus,
Thank you the old me was crucified with you at the cross so that sin would lose its power over me. Thank you for creating the new me to be like You. Help me to change the way I think about myself.
