Righteousness For All Who Believe

You are made right with God simply by believing in Jesus, who has made you right.

Have you noticed how easy it is to see yourself as a sinner, but how difficult it is to see yourself as righteous? We have no problem believing we are sinners because we have sinned. However, the gospel declares that through our faith in Jesus, our sins are forgiven and we have been made righteous. This means we simply believe we are in right standing with God all the time, whether we have just sinned or not. Because of God’s abundant provision of grace and Christ’s perfect behavior on our behalf, we are not required to behave right to be in right standing with God. Instead, we believe right to become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

Does this mean we can go on sinning? Absolutely not! Thanks be to God, for He has also given us the Helper, the Holy Spirit, who dwells in every believer and provides us with both the desire and the power to live godly, upright lives.

You are made right with God by believing in Jesus, who has made you right. And when you believe you are right, you will live right.
