Pursuit of Purpose: Running with Confidence

by: Tyler Hannel

“By your words I can see where I’m going; they throw a beam of light on my dark path.” Psalms.119: 105 MSG

The gift of Clarity

One of the greatest gifts that come from receiving a prophetic word is the CLARITY that it often brings to a circumstance, situation, or challenge in life. We have all experienced those moments where we know action is needed. We need to make a crucial decision, make a career change, or just do something different then what we have been doing. But it’s often not that simple. Knowing something needs to be done is one thing, but WHAT to do, or more importantly HOW to do it can often seem impossible and unclear. When it comes to living out our God given purpose the tension that comes from lack of clarity on the “next steps” and execution of those steps is the most difficult to navigate. Meaning, I have never met the person who said “yeah this is my purpose in life, this is my life mission statement, and here is how I can fulfill it on a daily basis I’m just choosing not to”. No, it’s always a conversation that sounds more along the lines of “I’m not sure what I’m supposed to be doing”, or “I just thought I would be farther along by now”, or “I don’t know what to do with the rest of my life.” And this for me is why prophetic words are so precious.

Prophetic words produce confidence

When I feel that tension well up in me that a change needs to take place but I don’t know the next step, it feels like I have been placed on a path I know I should walk down but it is dark and I can’t see the way through. It’s in those moments that the Lord will begin to speak or often just whisper to me, and it will feel like the first few steps down the path light up. But what I have discovered and experienced is, in God’s goodness, He sends men and women along the path with prophetic words that are confirmations and reiterations of the whispers from Him. Can you imagine the confidence that comes when you KNOW you heard God accurately because what you felt Him telling you was repeated by another person who doesn’t know about your conversations with Him? It’s as if the prophetic words shoot a beam of light down the path and you see not just a couple steps but a mile down the road! Those prophetic words amplify the light from God’s word. Because those confirmations make it plain what God is telling you and it stirs up faith (or confidence) in you and the path you are on.

Clarity of purpose produces confidence and confidence produces acceleration of purpose.

Nobody runs down a dark or poorly lit path. If you are going down a path you have never been on before and the way is unclear you walk with caution, doesn’t make the path the wrong one for you, you just can’t see. But if the path is well lit and you can see footing for each step you are more prone to run and to run FAST! God gives us prophetic words to be confirmation of what He has been speaking and light to the paths He is calling us to so that we can be all the more confident as we pursue His purpose for our life. Time is short, eternity is on the line, we don’t have time to walk with caution! Let us run with all our might and passion into the things God has made us to accomplish!

My Prayer for you:

As 2019 approaches,

“And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,” Colossians. 1:9
