A New Perspective

by: Terry Mitchell

When we face losses, it’s easy to focus on our pain and anxiety. But that’s the time to focus on God. He isn’t done yet!

The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights. Habakkak 3:19 (NIV)

In times of trouble, we usually see our losses first and foremost, and it’s easy to become fixated on those losses. We find ourselves afraid and unable to see a bright future. The Lord, however, always sees our circumstances clearly, and He has a great provision that is available to us in our time of need.

In the midst of our trials, when we feel powerless to change our circumstances, our Sovereign Lord loves to give us His strength. He loves lifting us above our present circumstances into His marvelous perspective, into the fullness of His favor.

Once we turn to Him in our need, we gain His strength to climb to the heights of His perspective and provision. We start rising above our losses to see possibilities of a good outcome. We are able to mightily declare – “The Sovereign Lord is my strength!”

For Reflection:

Under what present circumstances do you most need the Sovereign Lord to be your strength?

Where in life do you need a change of perspective and gain of provision?

Prayer

Lord, I declare that You are my strength.  Make my climb to Your heights as surefooted as a deer, so that in every circumstance I always gain the high ground of Your great perspective and generous provision.
