Crucified with Christ and Living in Grace

by: Tamika Crane

Grace makes me more aware of Christ and less aware of my sin and myself.

"I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." Galatians 2:20 (NIV)

God calls us to lead a life that is not fixated on our personal desires or emotions. We die to our old selves when we make a commitment to live our lives for the Glory of God. Galatians 2:20 paints a clear picture of the death to our sinful nature, going as far as to say that we have been crucified with Christ. We have inherited everything that Christ died for on the cross. We have inherited the Grace of God and His unfathomable love.

Since we have died to our old selves, we are a new person in Christ. We have been called to a life of purpose. Everything we do effects the people around us, and we can change the world if we focus our energy and resources on encouraging and uplifting others. The Grace of God is not only for us, but it is for everyone. Having received such a generous gift from our Holy Father, we should do our best to share that gift with everyone. God’s Grace is sufficient for us, and there is enough for all to have.

Grace has allowed us to experience the freedom of living a life centered around Christ, and has made us less aware of our sin and ourselves.

Prayer

Father God,
Thank you for freeing us from the focus of our sin. Thank you for sending us your Son to die for us on the cross, and taking away our sin so that we may share in your grace all the days of our lives. Your grace is more than sufficient for us. Help us, Lord, to be more aware of you and less aware of ourselves. Give us opportunities to touch lives and encourage people by sharing your grace message. Make us aware of the people around us, and let us see them the way that you do, God. Amen.
