The God Who Transforms

God has the most astonishing tendency to see things in us that we can’t see. He takes us just as we are and transforms each of us into someone wonderful.

Now all of us, with our faces unveiled, reflect the glory of the Lord as if we are mirrors; and so we are being transformed, metamorphosed, into His same image from one radiance of glory to another, just as the Spirit of the Lord accomplishes it. 2 Cor. 3:18, The Voice Translation

God is inviting us to the most amazing adventure we can possibly imagine. He is making us more like Jesus.

Just stop and really think about that for a moment; it will blow your mind. Jesus, the divine Son of God, lived in constant connection to His Father. He knew how to respond to every person and every situation, and He called on Heaven’s resources to meet the needs of those around Him. In this scripture, the Lord assures us that the same Holy Spirit who empowered Jesus is hard at work, forming His image in us!

The key is spending time in the presence of God. As we breathe in His love, acceptance and power, silly old habits that used to hold us begin to fade. He makes us more peaceful, joyful, loving, wise and kind. We’re not very effective at trying to do that for ourselves, but He does that sort of thing all the time. It’s easy for Him.

Here’s the funny part: we don’t lose our individuality. We don’t end up like phony, boring, cookie-cutter copies of somebody else. That’s because God knows the real YOU, the person He created and loves. The more we spend time with Him, the more we become our true selves. His plans for each of us are amazing!

What about you? Are you ready to take the next step in your grand adventure?

Prayer

Lord, Your promises are more than I can even take in. I’m so glad that I’m a part of Your master plan! Help me to keep my eyes on You today. I want to be so saturated with Your presence that it changes the atmosphere of every room I enter. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
