No condemnation communication!
God didn’t condemn sinners. Instead, He condemned sin and made a way to set us free!
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus... For what the law was powerless to do … God did by sending his own Son ... And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. Romans 8:1-4 (NIV)
Far too many wounded, hurting people have been told, “You’re a sinner. That’s why God is judging you.”
Sounds logical, doesn’t it? There’s only one problem: that’s not the Gospel!
The outrageous truth of the Gospel is that God did not judge us. Instead, He judged the sin that held us captive, and He set us free! Look again at the scripture above. In fact, you may have to open your Bible and see this with your own eyes. What did God actually do? He condemned sin.
What about us? “There is now no condemnation [literally, no possibility of condemnation] for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Here’s how The Message puts it: “Those who enter into Christ’s being-here-for-us no longer have to live under a continuous, low-lying black cloud. A new power is in operation. The Spirit of life in Christ, like a strong wind, has magnificently cleared the air.”
That’s a different kind of conversation, isn’t it? “Actually, God isn’t judging you. He loves you so much that Jesus paid the price for any wrong you would ever do. He wants to set you free from every burden of sin and guilt you’re carrying. Instead, He wants you to live in the light of His love. In fact, He has a plan for your life, and it’s wonderful!”
So, no more condemnation communication! We get to tell people what God really thinks of them. That is good news!
Prayer
Lord, I want to know Your amazing love in the depths of my being. Make it even more real to me, and give me an opportunity to share with someone who needs Your love today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
