Conversations of Grace

by: Anonymous

Our conversations can demonstrate God’s grace.

Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. Colossians 4:6 (NIV)

What does salt have to do with the way we talk? And what does salt have to do with grace?

Salt provides flavor and preserves things from corruption. Grace is “that which affords joy, pleasure, delight, sweetness, charm, loveliness” (Strong’s concordance). Our conversations should be the same. So when someone asks us why we believe what we believe, let’s hope they find loveliness and life, joy and excitement in our words, rather than dullness and dreariness. Let’s speak in a way that preserves the integrity and truth of God’s Word, and also demonstrates the joy and life of God.

Prayer

Lord, will You give me an extra dose of life and grace today? I want to be so full of Your presence that it’s contagious, so others see who You are and how much You love them. Teach me to guard my words so my conversations will be full of grace and seasoned with salt.
