Choose Life

by: Anonymous

To choose life is to choose God.

The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows). John 10:10 (AMP)

God is a God of life. It is His heart’s desire for us to live abundantly, not just in our finances, but in every area of life: in our marriages, our careers, our families, our emotions, and our spiritual lives. Even when we are going through difficulties and challenges, it is still His intention for us to live abundantly, but He gives us a choice. We can make a decision to choose life; life with our words, life with our attitude, and life with our actions towards others. We don’t have to feel joyful or full of life in order to make a conscious decision to be kind, to smile and to be a blessing to other people.

Another Scripture says that God sets before us life and death. Then He instructs us to choose life. Isn’t God amazing? He loves us enough to gently nudge us in the right direction. We choose life so that we can live, love God, obey Him, and cling to Him.

How do we choose life? We choose life by letting go of bitterness, unforgiveness, hurt, hopelessness, and self-pity. We turn to Him instead and He gives us hope, healing, kindness and love. When we do this, we are choosing God and the life He desires for us. (Deut. 30: 19-20 AMP)

God holds our hands and walks us through that process. When we choose Him moment-by-moment, He gives us the strength and ability to move forward even in the midst of very difficult circumstances. We can spend time in God’s presence and experience getting filled up with His love, joy, and peace, in spite of adversity. He is inviting us to tap into His unlimited supply!

Prayer

God, thank you for choosing me.  I choose You in return.  Teach me to choose life daily so that I can experience the full, overflowing life You desire for me.
