Men’s Ministry
“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong.”
1 Corinthians 16:13
At Northlands, we want to honor and celebrate what men bring to the church. The men’s ministry strives to be a band of brothers, encouraging one another:
- To have a vibrant personal walk with the Lord
- To be good husbands
- To be good fathers
- To live out a good testimony in the community
- To walk in holiness (especially sexual purity)
We believe the New Testament places men as leaders in the church and home, and that it defines leadership as servanthood. We seek to empower the men of the church to love, serve, and protect the women and children in their lives. This brings great security and peace to a home, and creates an environment where family members can reach the greatest heights of their potential.
We have a lot of fun when we get together — usually about once a month. We also have great teaching, because we believe true masculinity must be founded in a strong personal walk with the Lord. Some functions we’ve had this year: the Friday night “meating” (no salads allowed); “Laugh your way to a better marriage” video series; Paintball (Young Guns vs. Experienced Fathers); workday building shelving for the food pantry.

Tribe is our weekly accountability group for young men who are discovering their passion for Godly manhood. Its members make a serious commitment to help one another achieve higher personal standards than they could reach alone. Greg Haswell says, “In Tribe, the elders and I have tried to develop the group we wish we could have joined as young men. We teach the true meaning of masculinity, based in a strong walk with the Lord, based not in legalism but in grace.”
