AMPED: High School Ministry
“Do not let anyone think less of you because you are young. Instead, be an example to the believers with your words, your actions, your love, your faith, and your pure life.”
1 Timothy 4:12
In Amped, Northlands’ youth get together once a week to experience God’s presence and grow in His love. We share passionate worship music, practical teaching, and creative expression through arts and media. Because we believe in celebrating the God-given energy and adventurous hearts of teenagers, we have a team whose sole responsibility is “the fun factor”...games, parties and the unexpected.
The youth ministry in comprised of High School and Middle School aged students. It’s a friendly group where visitors can feel welcome. Because Amped has a culture of welcoming and connecting, you won't usually see anyone sitting alone at Amped. Visitors are never ‘visitors’ by the end of the night - they're Amped's newest friends.
The group encourages personal growth in many ways:
- Becoming more secure in their identity in Christ
- Moving in the gifts of the Spirit (and using them boldly even in Sunday services)
- Worshiping freely, with their whole heart
- Ready and able to share the gospel
- Having strong friendships with other believers
The group is lead by Chad Lusted and his wife Sheyla who both have a heart for youth ministry.
Chad, the leader, says: “Saturday evening meetings officially start at 7:00 pm, though the youths usually come around 6:30 to hang out ahead of time. We start with a fun activity, usually a group game. Then we sing, pray, and have a message, usually on how to apply Scripture to our everyday lives. Worship time is lead by our own youth worship band. The worship time is awesome, the message relevant, and there is always time for corporate and personal prayer. Parents pick up the kids by 9:00. And once a month or so, we get together just for fun, like having a Lock-In or going indoor rock climbing.”
Chad’s wife Sheyla adds, “I love all the precious youth girls. Getting to know them and share with them has been a blessing to me. We always learn a lot and have fun.”
