Then the righteous will answer him, “Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?” … The King will reply, “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”
It’s an awesome thing to be able to bless the poor in faraway countries, but the truth is, needy people live right here in our own community. Northlands is committed to making a difference in the local community in which the church resides. To bring this commitment into a practical reality, we have created Grace Food Pantry.
Through public outreach, we will let the community know about this new effort. Needy community members will be able to make appointments and come to the pantry, located in Northland’s physical church facility, to receive food and other supplies at no cost.
Practical Blessings, Supernatural Blessings
While our hope is that the people who come will also desire prayer and counseling, there will be no strings attached to receiving this blessing of provision. There’s the saying that many of us have heard before, “Preach the Gospel—use words if necessary.” Grace Food Pantry will do just that. It will preach the Gospel through a tangible blessing with nothing expected in return. As people receive these practical blessings, however, their hearts will be open to receiving more of the Lord.
The poor are starving for food but more often than not, they are starving even more for healthy relationships. We are trusting that the relationships formed from Grace Food Pantry will result in salvation, healing and mighty moves of God in the lives of the people who come there. We also believe our church membership will become more diverse as some of these community members join us, thus further removing any racial, cultural or economic walls that may exist.
Volunteers Needed: To operate the pantry, Northlands needs volunteers who have a heart to bless the needy. There are many areas of need including organizing schedules and work, picking up food and delivering it to the pantry, and volunteering to give out food and praying and counseling with those who desire that. We are also thankful to receive donations of nonperishable food and household items.
When you give of yourself to help the poor, you are ministering to the Lord. Come help us make Grace Food Pantry a huge blessing for Norcross, Georgia and surrounding areas.
If you’ll let us know how to reach you, and how / when / what you’d like to volunteer or donate – we’ll get back in touch with you.
Thank you very much for your willingness to support Grace Food Pantry!
